Middleweight champion Sergio Martinez was in good spirits Thursday afternoon at the prefight presser for his title defense this Saturday on HBO (10:30ET / 7:30 PT) live from the MGM Grand at Foxwoods against the unbeaten Sergiy Dzinziruk.
The biggest news to come out of the presser was that Martinez?s long time trainer Gabriel Sarmiento will not be in his corner this Saturday night, but his brother Pablo Sarmiento will be.
?It?s his personal life. It?s something everybody needs to respect.? Martinez said through a translator.
Martinez. A native of Argentina will be making his 2nd title defense of the lineal middleweight championship. His opponent, Dzinzuruk, will be making his first appearance as a middleweight after six successful title defenses as a beltholder in the junior middleweight division.
?I?m going to show the world I?m the best fighter.? Martinez said.
