It is a moment of grief for the local boxing community with the passing away of Ricardo Canlas early this morning (Sunday), following a boxing event in Naga City on Saturday evening where he judged.
According to accounts from colleagues, Kuya Ric believed to have suffered from a heart attack at dawn and his roommate, boxing referee Noel Haduca, rushed him to a local hospital where he eventually expired.
Kuya Ric was a fixture in the Luzon boxing community and was also a judge in several international fights including Manny Pacquiao?s fight against Fahsang 3K Battery in the ?Yanig sa Taguig? held in November of 2004. He judged his last fight Saturday evening.
