Here we go again with the good news: Wladimir Klitschko (55-3-0) and David Haye (25-1-0) are not only back in negotiations, but have already solidified a few bullet points.
According to Wladimir Klitschko, their long awaited bout has been slated for July 2, 2011, somewhere in Europe. Germany or England have been mentioned as the two available options. Klitschko was also quoted saying: ?The contract is not signed yet, but we already have something important ? a preliminary agreement on July 2. We will divide the money fifty-fifty.?
So there you have it, the money issue that has prevented this fight from happening before, is now solved. Splitting the money half-half is very impressive: generous of Wladimir, and lucky for Haye. As the dominating world champion, Wladimir could always manipulate the financials, but he went with the flow, trying to oblige the fans.
As this is the only reasonable and meaningful fight left in the heavyweight division, I am glad things are moving forward. I have no doubt that the fight venue will sell out in no time. Better yet, if this fight ends up being a PPV event, I would imagine most people be willing to buy this one, despite recent decline in quality PPV events.
