MANILA, Philippines ? A party-list lawmaker reiterated his appeal for government to tap boxing icon and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao as the country?s top tourism endorser, saying that the popular ring figure could provide the key in resuscitating tourism as a top dollar earner.
Agbiag Rep. Patricio Antonio said the invitation and eventual visit of Pacquiao to the White House has further bolstered his contention that the Filipino regarded as the best pound-for-pound boxer in ring history is the best salesman for Philippine tourism.
Last year, Antonio filed House Resolution No. 706 strongly recommending Pacquiao as a tourism endorser of the Department of Tourism, a role that was readily accepted by the boxing great.
He stressed that Pacquiao can be an effective ?marketing tool? to regain the country?s positive image in the international scene. (Ben Rosario)
