He’s one of the most recognized boxing referees in the world. With over 160 world title fights under his belt, it’s no big surprise why it was just announced that he will go into the boxing hall of fame with Mike Tyson later this year. Cortez sat down with 8CountNews and talked in depth about his career in boxing both inside of the ring as a fighter, and as a referee. Cortez had a very successful amateur boxing career, capturing multiple New York State Golden Gloves titles and national Golden Gloves titles along the way. As a pro, he went 18-1 so the man knows boxing from every angle.
