Sergio Martinez: “It just so happens that Pacquiao is always fighting the not-so-dangerous type of fights and fighters”

On whether he was at all disappointed that a rumored fight between him and Miguel Cotto never came to fruition:

?No, I wasn?t disappointed at all. In fact, I understand the business and this is something that happens, but the thing is that there is always the future. I think the fight with Dzinziruk is going to be a great fight and I?m excited about this fight. There is always time for Cotto or anyone else in the future.?

His views on the May showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Sugar Shane Mosley:

?I feel that Mosley is not the fighter that he used to be. Mosley was a great fighter and champion as well, but Pacquiao is great champion. The thing with Pacquiao is it?s not a very dangerous fight for him. It just so happens that Pacquiao is always fighting the not-so-dangerous type of fights and fighters.?

On whether his new found championship fame has made him lose his hunger or desire to prove his greatness to the fans:

?My hunger hasn?t decreased at all. In fact I?ve gotten hungrier these last several years than I had my whole career. My whole goal in life right now is to become the best fighter in the world today pound-for-pound. If I lose that hunger, if I lose just a little bit, then it?s time for me to go. I?m going to retire.?

On what it means to him to be viewed as one of the top two or three fighters in the world:

?Well I?m definitely grateful for where I?m at now, but it?s just with this motivation I have in me. It?s always been my dream to become the best fighter in the world and it?s only a matter of time. I believe this year is going to be my year and I?m going to fight the best fighters out there to prove it to the world that I deserve to be number one.?
