An unfortunate event led Czar Amonsot having to fight another opponent in his Feb. 3 (Feb. 4 in the Philippines) US debut at the Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Mexican Cristian Favela is the third fighter named to fight Amonsot for the WBO Asia-Pacific super-featherweight champion.
Anthony Wong, who replaced Arturo Quintero for the 10-round fight in the Guilty Boxing Promotions card, pulled out of the fight after injuring himself in training last week.
Favela, 11-9-4 win-loss-draw with eight knockout wins, has not been stopped in all of his fights.
In all of his losses, he reached the distance, losing on points including three 12-round fights for the WBO Inter-Continental title, WBC Continental and the Mexican featherweight belt.
One of his defeats was against Javier Jaruegui in February last year. Jauregui inflected one of Randy “Kumong Bato” Suico’s two losses in September.
However, the handlers of Amonsot are not worried since the ALA Gym fighter has intensified his training as he has found a very tough sparring partner in Ricky Quiles, the IBF No.1 lightweight contender.
“Amonsot is in top shape and was impressive in his sparring session against IBF No.1 contender Ricky Quiles. They sparred six rounds,” said ALA Boys manager Antonio Aldeguer in an e-mail.
