Pacman looks beyond May 7; Mosley expects a rematch

LAS VEGAS ? Emmanuel ?Manny? Pacquiao said he is not retiring after his next fight on May 7 at the MGM Grand.

Shane Mosley may have provided the reason Saturday during a press conference that was attended by the public, boldly declaring that it would probably because he and Pacquiao will meet in a rematch later in the year.

?I still have a few more fights and me and Manny will have a rematch,? said Mosley, the 7-1 underdog who faces the daunting task of beating the pound-for-pound king.

?Of all the fight, this is the one you?ll want to see,? he said.

Earlier, Pacquiao had announced that the Mosley fight will not be his swan song, making it only feasible that master promoter Bob Arum and him are cooking up a few more marquee matchups down the road.

But Mosley wants to ruin their plans and is upbeat about achieving what ringsiders say is difficult to do.

While Mosley only repeated some of the lines that he delivered during the kickoff press conference in Los Angeles on Thursday, the 39-year-old puncher stressed that his size advantage, power, and speed will spell trouble for Pacquiao.

?I am fast and big,? said Mosley, even sounding slighted that a lot of people have already counted him out.

?I have been doing this for a long time and I know better,? Mosley added.

That was virtually the only strong-worded statement uttered during the entire proceeding as he and Pacquiao treated each other with respect, something that is a rare occurrence in a publicity event for boxing.

Pacquiao said Mosley remains a very dangerous rival despite his age and the unimpressive ending of his last two fights.

?Shane can still punch,? said Pacquiao, aware of the second-round scare Mosley created when he fought Floyd Mayweather last year.

Pacquiao is convinced that Mosley is still a threat that he has finalized with trainer Freddie Roach plans for the first half of the eight-week training camp in the cool climes of Baguio in the northern Philippines.

?Four weeks in Baguio, three weeks in Los Angeles and the last week (here) in Las Vegas,? said Pacquiao, whose new hairdo was even made into a topic of discussion among those who attended the event.

Asked if he was imitating the hairstyle of teen heartthrob Justin Bieber, Pacquiao denied it, saying he is actually copying that of Bruce Lee although in another instance, the Filipino star told a couple of Manila-based scribes that he is a fan of the Beatles? mop-top haircut.
