In my previous article, I mentioned that the Juan Manuel Marquez vs Erik Morales was all set to go on April 9. That would be a great match-up considering the fact that these two Mexican Warriors have yet to face each other. Although Erik Morales has not fought in a competitive match since losing his third fight against Manny Pacquiao, he still possess a ?puncher?s chance? that could easily trouble Marquez. I am really looking forward to that fight, but the latest buzz is that the fight is now off.
According to some reports, Juan Manuel Marquez opted to look for other options rather than face the three time world champion Erik Morales. But according to some rumors, JMM called the fight off because he doesn?t want to renew his contract at Golden Boy Promotions. He felt that Golden Boy is ?mistreating? him by not giving him the fights (and money) he deserves. Sounds like I?ve heard this before, IE Sugar Shane Mosley? If that’s the case, JMM might be on his way out of the De La Hoya-owned company and he might pull a Mosley act. By being a free agent, he could negotiate to whoever he wants, make deals that will be favorable to him, and he might actually land the fight he truly wanted for years; a fight against the Pacquiao.
