Titanic icebreaker for Mayweather-Pacquiao: Floyd, Arum in Super schmooze

That ice that fell off the roof of Cowboy Stadium the other day and injured six people days before the Super Bowl was just part of a wider meltdown in Arlington, Texas.

The glacial relationship between undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. and his former promoter, Bob Arum, became a warm puddle during the Green Bay Packers victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers inside Jerry Jones’ $1.2 sports playpen.

Specially invited guests Arum and his stepson, Todd duBoef, sat in the owner’s box at the futuristic stadium and socialized with ?Money.?

Mayweather and Arum were in good company along with former Secetary of State Condoleeza Rice, former President George W. Bush, entertainer Jamie Foxx and other VIPs.

According to Arum, who last time I checked was still fighting a lawsuit from fellow Las Vegan Mayweather, it was all hail fellow well met despite their frosty recent history.

?It broke the ice with Floyd, that’s what it did . It was nice, Floyd came over and hugged us,? Arum said Monday from his office. ?Floyd was extremely cordial, very friendly and he just couldn’t have been nicer.

?He was very congenial to us and everyone else. And we all watched a good game. I had the Packers. I’ve been betting them all through the playoffs. I ran the table with the Packers.?

Arum said neither ?boxing? nor ?Manny Pacquiao? was mentioned in the conversations he and duBoef had with Mayweather.

?I talked to Floyd a little bit but he and Todd sat down and yakked and yakked and yakked. President Bush is my new buddy and I briefed Connoleeza on the Egypt situation.?

Others in the bold letter name group did not hesitate to mention the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight that the general public has been clamoring for, though.

?Someone mentioned that fight when Floyd was standing there, it might have been Jamie Foxx, and some other people mentioned it also.?

You can bet that duBoef and Mayweather exchanged mobile phone numbers as well.

For his next diplomatic coup, I think Head Cowboy Jones should head straight to Tahir Square in Cairo and take a load off President Obama’s back.

Which reminds me that, while Mayweather was hanging with Mr. Bush, Congressman Pacquaio is prepping for his Feb. 15 White House photo opp with the current resident of the White House.
