There is no way to explain the excitement Manny Pacquiao (52-3-2, 38ko’s) brings to the sport. To call him Pac Man is an understatement. The last five years of his hall of fame worthy career has been nothing short of “Super”. Pacquiao gets his fair share of flack for fights against Margarito and Cotto at catch weights for world titles. The fact still remains that the fights took place and Pacquiao the naturally smaller man dominated his foes. To be honest I believe Manny is a 137 to 140 pound fighter competing at welter weight. Shane Mosley (46-6-1, 39 KO’S) will have his crack at the P4P kingpin on May 7th at the famous MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV. Many aren’t giving the 39 year old Mosley a chance of winning May 7th. The two qualities Mosley brings to the table are punching power and a solid chin. It’s not Mosley that I’m worried about, he will come to fight. The difference is not only will Pacquiao come to fight but he will come to dominate in every facet of the game. He will be “Super”.
After watching Timothy Bradley out dual Devon Alexander last night. I don’t think either fighter could beat Manny. Bradley has the gritty and mauling style to make it interesting but I see Manny winning that fight. If Manny takes care of business with Mosley who will he fight next? The popular choice would be the 41-0 fighter from Grand Rapids, Michigan. The problem is that fight has broken down over and over for numerous reasons. I think Manny should fight Bradley or continue to be “Super” and fight Sergio Martinez at 154.
A third fight with Marquez has been discussed but Marquez had his chance twice to beat Manny. If the fight takes place over 140 pounds Marquez may even be stopped or knocked down several times. Pacquaio has done a terrific job of bringing his power with him as he climbs weight class mountain. Marquez to his credit has looked great in his last two high profile victories. The problem is those guys don’t bring the tools that Manny does. Marquez is scheduled to face rival mexican and Pacquiao foe Erik Morales on April 9th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV. Before he can even be considered he needs to take care of Erik Morales.
No matter the opponent, The Pride of the Philippines will look to conquer. Pacquiao will do his best to show Shane Mosley first hand the meaning of Pinoy Power. Once the curtains are raised on May 7th, the unexpected may happen, but I’m expecting to see “Super Pac Man”.
