Floyd Mayweather Jr. is, after all, bigger than boxing.
It turns out that, while his two criminal lawyers are working feverishly to work out a no jail plea for him in Las Vegas (it could do down March 10), Mogul Mayweather has been slurping and trying to sell soda pop.
(Where I originally come from, meaning Boston, we properly refer to it as “tonic.” I had quite a shock when as a newcomer to Reno, Nevada, I asked a shopkeeper for some on a sweltering day and he pointed to the Brylcreem…hair tonic.)
It just gets me all fizzy inside when I think about how, with his nonalcoholic beverage empire rapidly expanding, Mayweather is sure to turn his back on HBO and on Manny Pacquiao.
Buyt, Mayweather being a whacky Mayweather, his soda product has a twist just like his away from the ring antics have a twist.
Fizzy Floyd explains that his pop “moving kind of slow right now” in a video sent along by his ardent fan, “Karceno.” I’m sure that these bevvies–can the ad pitch be “Let Mayweather drive you to drink?”–will soon go flying off the shlelves from Sarasota to Sarangani.
I’m sure Coca Cola, Pepsi and all the other big guys are shaking in their beverage boots.
You see, the Mayweather sodas are tied, the fighter explains, into gambling. Underneath each bottle cap you will find three or four “lucky digits” which “Money” suggest may turn into winning numbers in your local lottery games.
“This is my own soda,” Mayweather said, gushing.
You get your choice of fabulous flavors…
How about some Cash In Cola?
Or would you and the children prefer to swill some Win A Bunch Grape?
In case your thirst is still not slaked, there are other flavor options.
How about Strike It Rich Straberry or Jackpot Orange?
I notice there’s one flavor that is missing.
Where, Mogul Mayweather, is the Pacquiao Punch that fights fan are really thirsty for?
I might add that Mayweather won’t be drinking any more (soda) but he certainly won’t be drinking any less.
If you don’t wish to see Mayweather back in the ring, then by all means fill his pockets.
Run out to your local supermarket right away.
Order some cases because if there is one thing the Mayweather Family has plenty of–as any lawyer can tell you–is cases.
