When you bill a fight as ?The Super Fight?, one expects to see a real fight, a kill or be killed type of fight, one expects to see a super fight. The fight that took place last night was neither of those things, but don?t blame Timothy Bradley for that. Bradley did push himself and did his part in trying to deliver the billing. Alexander on the other side, well how can I put this? Alexander to me did not perform the way he should have for a fight of this magnitude.
For those of us that saw the fight last night, we know that the ending result of the fight last night was that the bout was stopped at 1:59 in the tenth round due to an accidental headbutt, thus awarding Bradley the technical decision over Devon Alexander. Going into the fight, I felt that Bradley would out work Alexander and sweep the championship rounds. Well we didn?t get to really see the championship rounds, but it sure looked like that?s exactly how they would have played out.
Bradley simply outworked Alexander by not allowing for Alexander to set the pace of the fight. Alexander for the most part usually always is able to set the pace by employing his straight hard jab and poking you in the face until he finds the right spot to strike. Bradley?s poise, determination, and that lethal right hand that was landing at will did not allow for Alexander to ever find that spot. Because of that, Bradley is now 27-0, and Alexander now finds himself at 21-1.
So today the morning after, how do I feel about what exactly transpired last night? Well, I feel that Bradley is a machine and deserved to win the fight because he was willing to go in and fight with a destroy or be destroyed mentality. I also feel that Alexander needs a little more work, I would start by adding better footwork and by switching it up in there. Alexander?s style to me is calculated yet very predictable. Alexander and team are going to have to change this if they plan on getting back to the top and regaining that title. Because as of right now, it is the opinion of I that Marcos Maidana would devour Alexander if the two were to meet inside the ring sooner rather than later.
After the fight, Bradley said that he is ready for Pacquiao. I beg to differ, I feel that as good as Bradley is, I just feel that Pacquiao is a little to much for Bradley. In fighting Pacquiao, one is forced to deal with too many things that one has not yet seen, not only that, but one is forced to deal with these things all at once. It?s almost like a knight trying to fight off a dragon without a shield while furious flames of fire are being spit at him. Bradley may not be ready for Pacquiao, but as of right now, Bradley is the best or second best at the very least in the loaded 140 pound weight division. To get that crown, Bradley must go after the king himself, Amir King Khan. I smell a real ?Super Fight? in the making.
