Not only does Manny Pacquiao get knockouts over elite prize fighters, now he can add a KO to his resume over HBO. I have to tell you, I love this. I remember when HBO dropped the Klitschko broth medicine.
HBO may have gotten a bit too big for their britches and it came back and cracked them in the face. Losing a Manny Pacquiao fight is bad news for them. CBS/Showtime will grab Pacquiao Vs. Mosley and perhaps future fights as well.
HBO isn’t all bad that’s for sure. I enjoy SOME of the HBO commentators. It was recently announced that HBO will be bringing the legendary Roy Jones Jr back to the booth. This is a big plus for HBO, as Jones is about as good as it gets when it comes to breaking down a fight, and observing what’s going on inside of the ring during a fight. The unofficial judge Harold Lederman is always a treat, and I enjoy his take from the sidelines. I also for the most part enjoy listening to Emanuel Steward. With that said, HBO lost out big by losing Pacquiao Vs. Mosley.
Showtime in my opinion is not bias toward any in particular fighter. Al Bernstein in my opinion is one of the best boxing minds in the sport, and I love listening to his take on things. I like Steve Farhood as well, he brings a fresh and clear perspective on the fighters prior to the fight, and post fight.
OK, so I do what I usually do when something like this happens. I got out into the streets and talked to the Mississippians about it. I made a run into some of the sports clubs in the area and talked to the fans about HBO getting dropped from Pacquiao coverage.
I spoke to Mark Delancey, a local boxing fan from Jackson. Mark agreed with me that HBO getting canned may be a good thing, “HBO probably got to the point where they felt like they could snap their fingers and people would come running. Pacquiao and Bob Arum don’t need HBO. Especially when there is a Showtime boxing that they can turn to.”
I for one will miss the HBO 24/7 Pacquiao coverage. Nobody produces a show like HBO, so that will be one thing that the fans will miss out on.
Pacquiao Vs. Mosley on CBS/Showtime. Boxing fans may have to get used to it.ers basically because the two champions were not exciting enough. They apparently didn’t get the ratings that HBO fancied. Honestly? Showtime in my opinion has been consistently putting on much better and much more exciting fights than HBO has as of recent, and it appears as if HBO just got a taste of their own
