MANNY Pacquiao’s popularity soared to new heights following his sensational technical knockout win over Erik Morales.
Proof of it was his inclusion in the top five most searched name in sports in the top web searches of Yahoo!
The keyword ‘Manny Pacquiao’ in the Yahoo search engine jumped to 452 percent in the aftermath of the 27-year old Filipino boxing icon’s 10th round demolition of Morales, considered the best fighter to come from Mexico since the great Julio Cesar Chavez, in their much hyped super-featherweight rematch at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
The report was prominently presented in the main page of Yahoo! together with a photo of the former two-time world champion.
Along with Google and MSN, Yahoo! is one of the top internet search engines today. It regularly updates changes and movements of the most search keywords on its search engine.
Outside of Pacquiao, other prominent search keywords of late were Wilt Chamberlain, the mother of basketball phenom LeBron James, Theo Walcott, the upcoming, 16-year old football wonder from England and Anna Benson, the controversial wife of baseball star Kris Benson.
The Yahoo! report listed Pacquiao as a national hero in the Philippines.
