Manny Pacquiao?s business manager Rod Nazario isn?t prepared to give up the Filipino southpaw?s 122-pound title just yet and yesterday instructed his son Roberto, who is based in San Francisco, to join the purse bid ordered by the International Boxing Federation before the Jan. 16 deadline.
Nazario, who is recovering from surgery to remove a stone in his kidney, said he would make ?a reasonable purse bid? of $250,000 in order to comply with the International Boxing Federation directive, which stated that should the IBF featherweight champion ignore the purse bid, he will be stripped of his title.
In an overseas telephone conversation with Manila Standard, Roberto ?Boying? Nazario said he would talk to Oscar de la Hoya, whose Golden Boy Promotions handles mandatory challenger Jose Luis Valbuena, before submitting a bid.
