If you are a regular follower of Boxing, then you know by now that Amir Khan and Manny Pacquiao aren’t going to be facing off each other in the ring. Recently quoted by talkSPORTS UK, Khan reaffirmed that he is not interested in fighting against his friend Manny Pacquiao, but would face Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr.
Quoted by the UK based Publication, Khan stated why a fight with him and Pacquiao will never happen. “Me and Manny Pacquiao are really good friends,” stated Khan, adding: “The fight between me and Pacquiao will never happen. We’ve got a great team here and I?m not going to put Freddie Roach in that position as to who he picks to train.” Both Khan and Pacquiao are trained by Freddie Roach.
Khan believes he could make big waves without fighting Pacquiao and feels he’d be ready for Mayweather Jr soon. “I?m sure there are other fighters out there who I could fight and make a big impression,” said Khan, adding: “Floyd Mayweather Jr is one, maybe in the future that fight could happen, maybe in the next 12-15 months.”
At 24, Khan is very young for an active fighter and one can only imagine what Roach can do for him with some given time. I am not sure he’d be ready for Mayweather so soon, but under the tutelage of Roach, nothing is impossible..
