King Pacquiao left to feast on crumbs

Manny Pacquiao, a happy, puffy holiday doll, need not apologize, but he can’t deny he has been left to beg for a more significant fight as the New Year dawned.

Taking on Shane Mosley is not the right way to start a new decade.

Why? All for the simple fact that Mosley, despite trainer Freddie Roach’s turnaround claim that it would be a difficult fight, has nothing visible to contribute to the Pacquiao greatness.

In fact, blunt shots were fired once the bout was confirmed that Mosley spells nothing but money, money and more money for Manny.

“It appears that Pacquiao no longer cares for anything but money,” barked WBC president Jose Sulaiman.

Sulaiman went on to hit Pacquiao for being disrespectful of the WBC.

“Pacquiao has been fooling around and has not mentioned anything to credit the WBC,” Sulaiman cried.

Of course, it was typical of the WBC chief to explode and hit the roof without first checking what’s under his chair.

To start with, after Floyd Mayweather Jr. had shrunk into a skunk in order to avoid meeting Pacquiao squarely, did the WBC have anybody truly worthy to challenge Pacquiao?

OK, there was Juan Manuel Marquez.

The truth is that the mention of Marquez as possible Pacquiao foe readily sent shivers down Freddie Roach’s spine.

Roach had quipped he was afraid Pacquiao could end up with Marquez’s blood in his hands.

Yes, Pacquiao has simply zoomed out of Marquez’s limited reach.

Pacquiao has splendidly blossomed way beyond Marquez who, sharp and skillful as he is, certainly cannot box competently at Pacquiao’s level.
