Tickertape parade for Pacquiao set in Manila

THE City of Manila is preparing a hero’s welcome for Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, who defeated Mexican boxing legend Erik “El Terible” Morales by a technical knockout in the 10th round of their rematch last Sunday. A tickertape parade awaits Pacquiao when he returns on Friday, said Manila Mayor Lito Atienza.

Following simple rites at the City Hall, Pacquiao will proceed to Malaca?ang to pay a courtesy call to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

From there he will lead a motorcade that will take him around the streets of Manila.

The caravan will pass through Escolta, the University Belt, Quezon Avenue, Aurora Boulevard and San Andres, Manila.

Around 4:30 p.m. Pacquiao is expected to attend “A Tribute to Pinoy Champions” at the Rajah Sulayman Park in Malate with a special appearance by the world-renowned Lettermen, who are in the country for a series of shows.

This will be followed by a street party dubbed as “Hataw Pacquiao Victory Party” at 7 p.m. at the same venue.

Pacquiao sent Morales to the canvas Sunday for the first time in his career and completed the victory when the referee stopped the fight at 2:33 of the 10th.
