A 62-year-old farmer died at a hospital in Butuan City while watching the fight of Manny Pacquiao and Erik Morales last Sunday. Lupo Orquina, a resident of Carrascal, Surigao del Sur, died of heart attack while watching the fight at around noon on January 22.
Orquina was recuperating at the hospital for rheumatism when he suffered a heart attack while watching the second round of the boxing match.
Doctors suspect the victim died due to intense excitement over the fight, which saw Pacquiao demolishing his Mexican rival.
Meanwhile, a 32-year-old man hanged himself inside his house in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur after his wife and son left him.
Jhonniver Enceso was found lifeless, hanging from a ceiling of his bedroom with a rope tied around his neck in Sebulan Lote, barangay Astorga, Sta. Cruz around 5:20 p.m. on January 22.
Police said the victim was despondent when his wife and two-year old son left him.
The wife allegedly abandoned the victim since he had no job.
