Reports point to World Boxing Organization (WBO) featherweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez (30-0, 27 KOs) returning in April against Teon Kennedy (16-0-1, 7 KOs)
The bout will be in Lopez’s home country of Puerto Rico and Kenned is a surprising advisory, seeing that the Philadelphia fighter is not ranked bu the WBO or considered a world-class opponent within the featherweight division.
Lopez had a stand-out 2010 with victories against Rafael Marquez, Bernabe Concepcion, Steven Luevano, and Rogers Mtagwa.
The bout will mark Kennedy’s first significant bout and a break from his campaigning as a super bantamweight.
If successful against Kennedy, Lopez looks to once again remain active in 2011 by facing Cuban Yuriorkis Gamboa and a giving a rematch to Rafael Marquez.
Lopez vs. Kennedy would be broadcast in the United States by Showtime.
