MANILA, Philippines – Sarangani Rep. and 8-division boxing champ Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao denied Thursday media reports that his bodyguard pointed a gun at a reporter at the House of Representatives.
In an interview, Pacquiao said the bodyguard had a slight misunderstanding with a reporter but did not draw his gun.
He said he reprimanded his bodyguard and told him to be more respectful towards the media.
“I found out that nagkasagutan lang wala namang panunutok ng baril. Pinagsabihan ko na sila, wag silang umasta na parang maging mga antipatiko,” he said.
A Manila Standard Today report earlier quoted cameraman Dave Llavanes of IBC 13 complaining that Pacquiao?s bodyguard, Michael Roy Sta. Teresa, pointed a gun at them.
It said Sta. Teresa elbowed the cameraman 3 times after House reporters went to Pacquiao’s office to follow up a news story.
The incident prompted the House to review its security protocol. Report by Jay Dayupay, ABS-CBN News
