Today is the 32rd birthday of boxing star Manny Pacquiao so we?ve deemed this Friday the official ?Day of Manny Pacquiao.?
Pacquiao defeated Antonio Margarito to go 2-0 this year after defeating Antonio Margarito, who was 17 pounds heavier in their fight, and continued an undefeated run since 2005. Manny Pacquiao is the first boxer in history to earn 10 titles among eight different divisions. He is the first active boxer to hold a congressional seat (in the Phillipines). The Boxing Writers Association voted Manny Pacquiao boxer of the decade from 2000-2009. Most important, Pacquiao has Floyd Mayweather too shook to fight him.
Simply put, Manny is the man.
In honor of his b-day, we ask this simple question. If boxing was as popular as football, do you think Manny Pacquiao would have beat out New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees for the 2010 Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the year?
And before anyone says this is an American only honor, just know Pacquiao was in the running last year but eventually lost out to Derek Jeter.
What do you think?
