Just got off the phone with Lou DiBella who promotes middleweight champion, Sergio Martinez. He meets with HBO tomorrow and he has laid out a plan he will present to them. On his Twitter page, he has already thrown out his plan to stage a bout beween Andy Lee and John Duddy on March 12 at the Theater in MSG, which would take place as part of Martinez?s next appearance against his WBC mandatory Sebastian Zbik.
Then after that, he says he has reached out to Felix Sturms people about a possible fight. And then there is also the possibility of facing the winner of the rematch between Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito in the fall. I?m told that Top Rank is interested in that, as they believe matching the winner of that rematch versus Manny Pacquiao, again, doesn?t make much sense.
It?s not a bad plan.
