There is not much interest in the boxing heavyweight division, and that blame lies squarely in the lap of Vitali and his brother Wladimir Klitschko, who are quite honestly just too darned good.
The fact these two behemoths reside outside of the United States has been the major hindrance in them receiving the deserved and earned acclaim that should have been bestowed upon them long ago.
Having been declared ?boring? and ?bringing no excitement? to the sport or division, leaves them both to fight ?re-treads, also-rans, and wannabe?s?, such as Dereck Chisora. Most that now come in playing the role of ?the villain?, at some point in pressers make the claim they will ?SHOCK THE WORLD? and relieve either Vitali of his WBC portion of the heavyweight title, or Wladimir of his IBF, IBO, and WBO, belts.
The WBA World Championship belt belongs to David Haye, another worthless specimen who temporarily has the belt in his possession merely because of his reluctance to take on either of the Ukranian champions while offering excuse, after excuse, for not getting in the ring.
This Saturday night at the SAP-Arena in Mannheim, Baden-Wurttamburg, Germany, Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO?s) will destroy Dereck Chisora (14-0, 9 KO?s) in a fight where Chisora will hear the count reach ten, while flat on his back.
The only other option available to Chisora is for him to hold, hug, and attempt to survive a 12 round title bout with Wladimir Klitschko, and then proclaiming some sort of ?moral victory?.
Chisora resides in the United Kingdom where he supposedly has a large following, but that following will leave him as quickly as rats do a sinking ship, after he suffers what will hopefully be the worst beating of his life on Saturday night.
Continually being disrespectful of anyone/anything connected to Wladimir Klitschko has been the stategy used by Chisora to attempt to get under the skin of the man who has more KO?s (49) than Chisora has total fights (14).
That discrepancy seems to have Chisora unfazed as he has referred to American heavyweight boxers as ?horrible? on numerous ocassions and even claimed if he had been close enough, he would have ?slapped Shannon Briggs in his face? for what Chisora termed a pitiful Briggs performance againt Vitali Klitschko back on October 16, 2010.
That threat having gone unexecuted, Chisora recently chose to refer to Klitschko Hall-of-Fame Trainer Emanuel Steward as an ?Uncle Tom?, a derogatory term insinuating Steward works with the white Ukranians instead of black heavyweights in the United States.
The remarks are ridiculous and mean spirited to say the least, but go far beyond mere ?trash talk?, to Chisora spewing hatred that is far beyond what any normal person would engage in.
Dereck Chisora has shown an immaturity and insecurity that will have him suffer a fate he probably cannot envision, but is surely his destiny, this coming Saturday night.
The smile will be gone, but the glasses will be in place Sunday morning for Dereck Chisora
If for no other reason than the insults thrown at both Shannon Briggs and American heavyweight boxers, HBO should have made the effort to let American boxing fans enjoy Chisora get the beating he deserves.
The heavyweight division lacks an individual who has charisma, charm, and can fight, along the lines of a Manny Pacquiao, but there is no other personality comparable to the present pound-for-pound king.
There are presently ZERO personalities out there who can fill a stadium with supporters, not detractors, on a continued basis, other than the Congressman from the Phillipines.
Mexican fans are looking at Saul ?Canelo? Alvarez as their future star.
Puerto Rican fans have Juan Manuel Lopez and Miguel Cotto carrying their mantle.
Cuban fight fans have Guillermo Rigondeaux and Erislandy Lara as future champions.
Fillipino boxing fans have Pacquiao and Nonito Donaire looking like dominant boxing figures.
The United Kingdom boxing fans are hitching their wagon to Dereck Chisora and David Haye?
We now have Dereck Chisora being given the opportunity of a lifetime against a man who has been able to contain himself because of all the insults and negativity, but Chisora ?running his mouth? has enabled Wladimir Klitschko to gain a focus he might have otherwise neglected.
We American heavyweight boxing fans will have to find alternative viewing of the Klitschko vs Chisora fight, but the ending will come as no surprise to anyone.
The ending is simply a matter of ?when, not if? Dereck Chisora gets knocked out, and I for one cannot wait for the announcement that Chisora has endured the same fate of the alleged ?horrible? American fighters he seemingly feels he is so much better than.
