Former World featherweight champion Naseem Hamed insists boxing ?has lost it?s glamour and excitement? and that he will ?bring it back?.
The 36 year-old, who last fought in May, 2002, was arguably the hardest hitter pound for pound and greatest showman British boxing has ever produced. Since defeating Spaniard Manuel Calvo over 12 one sided rounds at the ExCel Arena in London?s Docklands the charismatic Yorkshireman has rarely appeared on the boxing radar, instead choosing to spend time bringing up his three sons and enjoying the quiet life in the Surrey countryside.
But now Hamed is preparing for a comeback, not as boxer but a manager. As I said earlier Hamed has rarely spoken publicly since he threw his last punch in 2002 but in an exclusive interview with Alan Hubbard in Sunday?s Independent newspaper Hamed talks about many things including prison, Audley Harrison, why he quit and much more.
