FREEZE! The crime rate in the Philippines is expected to chill out today as the most hardened criminals take to the television to watch the much awaited bout between Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and Mexican nemesis Erik “El Terible” Morales.
The Philippine National Police yesterday said it is optimistic that crime rate in the country would hit the floor as criminal eyes stay glued on the TV.
“I am very sure that even hardened criminals would relax to watch the bout of our very own champion in the ring against the Mexican boxer,” said Metro Manila police chief Vidal Querol..
Although police are not that optimistic of getting a zero crime rate today, the police chief of the National Capital Region is hopeful that there will definitely be a noticeable decrease in the crime rate in various parts of the country during the exchange of blows between the two boxing legends.
“I presume even our Muslim brothers in Mindanao and brothers in the New People’s Army and Communist Party of the Philippines are also awaiting this event to watch the people’s champion fighting with the Mexican idol,” Querol said.
Still, he warned metro policemen to take extra efforts and be ready all the time to react to any unforeseen events.
