The Aboitiz Men’s League Division B resumes today but one of the biggest concern of organizers is whether teams will show up for their match or stay home and watch Manny Pacquiao duke it up with Erik Morales.
“I have asked my staff to remind the teams and they have committed,” Cebu Football Association president Jonathan Maximo said.
In today’s first match, cellar dwellers Cebu State College of Science and Technology will face FC Inter Lapu-lapu at 10 a.m., approximately the same time the Pacquiao-Morales fight starts.
In the second match at 1 p.m., San Roque FC will play FC Inter Cebu, while Queen City United will face Metropolitan FC in a crucial match at 3 p.m.

“We have no choice but to play because we are scheduled to play, but everybody in our team is thinking of the same thing – malas kay di mi kakita sa away ni (too bad we can’t see the fight of) Pacquiao,” SRFC midfielder Eleazer Toledo said.
In another tournament today, the Rose Pharmacy-Pyroworks “Kay Sarap Magmahal” Chess Open at SM City Cebu, arbiter Marvin Ruelan is also wary of players missing their games.
Ruelan, however, said that players competing in the seven-round tournament may take a bye if they think they can’t make it to the games, which start at 1 p.m.
Meanwhile, Queen City United will have to win its game against Metropolitan FC today to solidify its hold of the top spot in the division.
Win record
Queen City currently leads with a 4-1 card and has 26 goals scored, but Metropolitan has won all its three matches, scoring 26 goals.
Even if it loses today, Metropolitan can still finish on top if it sweeps its last two matches and increase its goal output.
The top two teams in Division B will replace Danao FC and Juvio Magone, the bottom two teams in Division A. (ML)
