Emmanuel D. Pacquiao responds his country’s pulse of time

Special Edition from Object Lesson for this week’s edition, HOLLYWOOD, California – One of America’s greatest businessmen and thinkers, Robert Half, once said: “The delicate balance between modesty and conceit is popularity.” And this quote we may draw our thoughts from it as well, in between ‘modesty’ and ‘conceit’ is a call for something higher, that is no lesser than idolatry. One would rather save the harshest criticism for those who worship idols. We may come to face some uglier sides of this story. Why were idols so bad in the Supreme Being’s sight? To worship an idol violated the first two of the Ten commandments (Exodus 20:3). And nothing is so different in the case of Emmanuel D. Pacquiao being idolized as if everything he does in the ring of madness and outside connotes righteousness in the eyes of his worshippers, and notwithstanding some people of less gravitas surrounding him find their quickness ‘plausible’ to somehow “translate” the same to their own terms, to make it appear that whatever they advise Pacquiao can become the legimitate reflection of the will of the many.

Meanwhile, despite their willful intent and artifice, the ‘Higher Power’ is spiritual and moral. It is for this reason that Pacquiao, the gifted one who may have been commissioned to do the higher calling, would remain an inspiration to the Maharlikan nation unitl he is no longer needed, in that the healing of the land can be had. His offer to help in advancing peace in Mindanao is one of a story of power, politics and intrigue that may pave the way of his lackeys’ intent to raise his influence before he stands atop of the Philippine politics twelve years from now, as some hope for. But, “Let’s not devalue the presidency. Anybody is qualified to be president, but I doubt whether he can really handle the job as the president of the country,” Veteran Philippine Senator Juan Ponce Enrile said

At least for these sycophants, scoundrels and numskul politicians, Pacquiao gets a brief shot ahead of that purported time. This, the public eye must see, Philippines cannot just be as jubilant and recalcitrant-bent than it is now without idolatry in the highest form of making in the might of Pacquiao. Conversely, he has nearly become an ‘indispensable commodity’ to the pulse of time, as least in the realm of inspiration for his country.

As you may have noticed, Pacquiao’s political call seems to be out of focus for Sarangani. The demand for him to be politically active has gone beyond the urgency to address the needs of his own congressional district he was elected for. It looks like his congressional role is more than just duplicity, in that his advisers are wanting him to take every opportunity bearing a national appeal, such as becoming a ‘peace negotiator’ for Muslim Mindanao. Enrile must be right in saying that saying “the boxing superstar would probably be better off serving as a bodyguard”.

“I can trust him to gain a good reputation for the country in the field of boxing (but) I cannot entrust the interest of the country to him. Maybe I can entrust myself to him as a bodyguard,” Enrile issued this statement after the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said they will be recommending the boxing champion as a negotiator in the peace talks with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People?s Army (CPP-NPA).

Enrile said that it is not enough that Pacquiao won a seat in the House of Representatives and that he is being idolized by millions of people. He added that maybe Pacquiao can serve as a “bridge” between the government and the rebel groups but that he definitely won’t suffice as a peace negotiator.

“The people who must be in the panel are people who are technically qualified to evaluate the total area of this national concern.” Enrile said.

In fact, “He (sic) would need someone like the Greek philosopher Socrates to teach him the ‘meaning of life’.”
