But Manny Pacquiao did not only rearrange the face of Antonio Margarito. He also reconfigured the Mexican?s muddled mindset.
?Pacquiao is the toughest fighter I?ve ever fought,? Margarito said after the fight. Pacquiao also helps rehabilitate his victims.
Did he not do beer commercials with Erik Morales, after twice knocking out the Mexican known as ?El Terrible??
If Pacquiao would next revive the long-kayoed Pasig River, doubt not.
Did he not stop inflicting more harm on Margarito only last Sunday in Arlington, Texas?
After mauling Margarito for virtually 10 rounds, Pacquiao realized he?d done enough harm on the ?Tijuana Tornado.? He signaled not once but twice to the referee to stop the fight.
But Laurence Cole ignored Pacquiao?s eye signals.

I mean, did Cole bet on Margarito?
Cole might have possibly done that. The way he acted, he could be suspected of manipulating the outcome of the fight.
In boxing, the referee can stop a fight anytime.
Cole could have done it as early as the 9th, even 10th.
He didn?t, essentially allowing Pacquiao to maim, if not kill, Margarito.
But Pacquiao was not Attila The Hun, if not Mike Tyson.
He was his old usual self: Aggressive but compassionate. Tough but with a marshmallow heart.
?Boxing is sport and not about killing,? Pacquiao said after the fight.

Wasn?t Cole the same referee who ruled a slip when, actually, Marco Antonio Barrera was knocked down in the early goings of the first Pacquiao-Barrera fight on Nov. 15, 2003, in San Antonio, Texas?
In that same fight, Pacquiao was already battering a virtually helpless Barrera as early as the 8th, 9th.
Yet, Cole didn?t stop the fight when it was extremely obvious Barrera had become literally fight-less.
Finally, Pacquiao knocked out Barrera in the 11th to pocket his third world crown in the 126-lb, featherweight division.
In winning his 8th world crown on Sunday (154 lb), I?m glad Pacquiao didn?t knock out the referee.
No use.
