Pictures of Paulie: A look back at the ?Magic Man? as welterweight debut looms

Whatever your opinion is of Paulie Malignaggi, you have the give the Brooklyn fighter a lot of credit for accomplishing what he has so far in his career. Despite not possessing an all-action style and having a noticeable lack of power in his fists, the ?Magic Man? was able to lay claim to the IBF junior welterweight crown for a three-fight spell starting in the summer of 2007 and he still has the ability to grab eye-catching headlines on a steady basis.

Malignaggi is coming off of a one-sided eleventh round TKO loss to Amir Khan this past May at the theatre in Madison Sqaure Garden and is now eyeing a run at the welterweight division. While Khan is using the momentum from his victory towards a huge December 11th date with interim champion Marcos Maidana at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Malignaggi seems to be starting from scratch and will next see action on the December 18th Bernard Hopkins-Jean Pascal undercard in Quebec, Canada when he faces off with Tijuana?s Michael Lozada.

Throughout his career Malignaggi has found himself in some memorable moments both good and bad. His defeats have seen him bruised by Miguel Cotto in New York and heartbroken by Ricky Hatton at the MGM Grand while his victories over the likes of Juan Diaz, Edner Cherry and Lovemore N?dou showcased his great boxing acumen and flash inside of the ring.

Turning 30 years old in just a few days time, Malignaggi seems deadest on one more run in the sport and will certainly bring a different kind of flare to the welterweight class regardless of how successful he is. Brazen and brash, Paulie Malignaggi wouldn?t have it any other way.
