MANILA, Philippines ? New World Boxing Council (WBC) super welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao was cleared by doctors to sing in his concert party in Lake Tahoe in Reno, Nevada.
Pacquiao, also the reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion, passed his medical tests following a bruising 12-round encounter with the bigger Antonio Margarito over the weekend.
?Okay naman ang katawan natin. ?Yung tagiliran ko medyo masakit pa ng konti pero kaya naman (My body?s fine. There?s slight pain on my side but I can manage),? he told ABS-CBN’s Dyan Castillejo.
The pound-for-pound king felt pain in parts of his midsection after sustaining powerful punches from Margarito during their exchange.
However, the pain didn’t seem to matter to Pacquiao. As of posting time, he was preparing for his concert in Lake Tahoe in Reno.
?Ang kanta naman eh relax lang (I?m relaxed while singing),? he said while on his way to Reno on board a limousine bus.
He and his band have lined up 50 songs for the concert organized by Prime Media Unlimited.
Pina Pe?a of Prime Media Unlimited said fans waited for six months for the concert. Hence, the tickets have almost been sold out.
?Siguro mga 1,000 ang mga expected na darating from all over the Bay area, as far as Miami, maraming darating (At least 1,000 people are expected to come from all over the Bay area, as far as Miami, so many will come),? she said.
The concert will take place at the Harrah?s Hotel on Tuesday night (Wednesday in Manila).
