After Pacquiao Vs Margarito, Is Pacquiao Vs Mayweather Absolutely Essential? Manny Pacquiao had a big challenge on his hands this past Saturday at the Cowboyz Stadium in Texas. The challenge was big because the opponent was bigger than him. Antonio Maragarito was undoubtedly much larger in size than Manny but the world knew that when he gets into that square ring, there can be really once winner.
His record after the match was of 52 wins, 3 losses and 2 decisions and of those 52 wins, 38 were knock out victories for him. Manny also went into the record books with that bout. He is now the junior middleweight champion of the WBC. This is his eighth title in the WBC and each one has come in a separate weight division.
Being a champ in eight different weight categories speaks volumes about this man. The fight itself was really uncompetitive this Saturday but it lasted for twelve rounds and for all twelve of them the fans enjoyed Pacquiao deliver a severe beating on Margarito.
There is no doubt now that Manny is truly the greatest boxer in the world today. But that accolade has another deserving nominee as well. And unlike Manny, who has a couple of losses despite winning everything for 6 years now, he does not even have a loss to show for his records; it is a straight 41-0 that he boasts.
Yes, indeed we are talking about the Money here ? Floyd Mayweather. These two great fighters have never met in the ring before but everyone knows that both can have only one deserving opponent in the ring today and that is each other. Anyone else, getting in the ring with either of them, means that the challengers would come second on paper.
The result can be declared even without the match starting. But the showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather is match made in heaven. Moreover, there are more implications of the match. For one, boxing fans would empty their pockets to the zilch in buying tickets for this match which means it is great business for the WBC.
And it is really about determining who is the best boxer today because when it is about being the best, there can only be one man. For Mayweather as well, it would be like a blemish in an otherwise flawless career if he opts not to face Pacquiao.
People would ask questions till the day that he dies and he would have no convincing answer as to who the better boxer was. By all counts, everyone that has any interest whatsoever in boxing needs to witness the dream match between Floyd ?Money? Mayweather and Manny ?Pac Man? Pacquiao. For heavens sake, get the match started already!!
