LAS VEGAS — Manny Pacquiao is back in the driver’s seat as far as the betting odds for his coming fight with Erik Morales is concerned.
At the sportsbook.com betting station located on the ground floor of the 60-storey Wynn Las Vegas, Pacquiao was the favorite as of 9 p.m. Thursday.
Pacquiao was listed at —115, meaning you have to place $115 to win $100. Morales was at —105, meaning you have to place just $105 to win $100.
When the early pre-fight forecasts came out last week, Pacquiao was a 10-8 favorite to beat Morales and avenge his bitter loss last March at the MGM Grand.
But last Tuesday, everything went dead-even at —110 until Thursday. Pacquiao was the overwhelming favorite when the two fighters fought last March.
“Pacquiao fans have started placing their bets that’s why,” said a Pinoy boxing expert. “While probably the Mexicans are holding on to theirs until the day of the fight.”
Curiously, the sudden change in the odds came on the day Filipinos, including a big group of local politicians, started to flock to Las Vegas.
Some of them were already seen at the 110,000 square-foot casino area of the newest and most expensive hotel in Las Vegas today.
