Come get some Floyd! That’s basically what Manny Pacquiao just said to Floyd Mayweather compliments 12 rounds of beat down over Antonio Margarito. Did you guys see Margarito’s face? Ouch! That looks like it hurts really bad. Floyd Mayweather saw it too, and guess what? He knows that getting into the ring against Manny Pacquiao will be something that he’s never faced before in his entire life.
Pacquiao is beyond a shadow of a doubt one of the greatest of all time. 8 world titles in as many weight divisions! Not a bad resume, and the historians will be look back and smile when writing about this warrior they call “Pacman” a true legend. What he did last night was dominate a guy almost 20 pounds heavier and he threw over one thousand punches. Floyd Mayweather saw all of that, and he saw the hamburger meat that used to be Margarito’s face as well.
I saw 6 and 7 punch combinations that Margarito was unable to counter. Floyd of is the only guy in boxing that can match Manny’s speed and his power, which makes the match up so interesting.
If it’s true that Floyd is scared to fight Pacquiao, then after what happened last night he must be terrified. BUT, I am not sold that Floyd is scared to fight Manny. I think it’s more of an ego thing, and the fact that Floyd doesn’t like to lose. I truly think that Floyd believes that he may lose a fight against Pacquiao.
Reports are that Margarito suffered a broken orbital bone that he will have to have surgery on. He also had to have several stitches to close the cuts on his face. There’s a good chance that he will never be the same again after such a brutal beating like that. Pacquiao delivered a stiff sentence, and don’t think for one minute that he wasn’t thinking about that video where team Margarito made fun of Roach’s Parkinson’s disease.
Mississippians chimed in last night as well. I watched the fight in Brandon, Mississippi with my Filipino friends. I was surrounded by Pacquiao fans, and all of them obviously were excited with the result of last night’s fight. They were screaming and cheering loudly in each round. I spoke with Lira, a Pinay now residing in Mississippi who was not happy with Margarito and his behavior, “Manny just got the last laugh. Margarito and this other guy making fun of Freddie Roach was terrible. Manny and Freddie got the last laugh.” Ironically not many of them were talking about Mayweather until I brought up his name.
