GRAPEVINE, TX – The trio of Antonio Margarito, trainer Robert Garcia and boxer Brandon Rios have been apologizing for two days now for their ugly video attacking Manny Pacquiao trainer Freddie Roach which went viral on the internet.
I won’t waste your time dignifying what they did and said here but it was terrible, ill-advised and classless and at least a fighter like Antonio Margarito, given a second chance at his career and his multi-million dollar pay day, along with a normally controlled, well-mannered and well-spoken trainer such as Garcia should know better.
This will always be a stain on Garcia’s resume in my opinion.
Most involved seem resigned to forget about it – at least publicly, but beneath the surface I’m sure their are bruised egos and hurt feelings.
This wasn’t the kind of last-minute publicity this publicity-starved event needed. But boxing can’t help itself.
