Pacquiao Vs Margarito: Battle Of Unequals? The clash of Boxing titans is just two days away. Manny Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito will fight it out for the Super Welterweight Championship at 150 pound, on Saturday in the Cowboys Stadium, Arlington, Texas.
At a full four inches shorter than his Mexican opponent, Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao will be physically as fit as he has ever been. He said, “I kept trying to put on weight, but at 150 I felt too heavy, too slow,” Pacquiao said Tuesday during a workout at the Gaylord Texan. “I’ll stay at 147 so I can have my speed.”
He said that he’ll meet his 150 pound limit at the CST weigh-in on Friday, but will be about 160-162 pounds, come Saturday. 150 pounds is the maximum weight his body can hold, providing him his exceptional speed, that he’s known for.
Pacquiao has fought in all styles and with opponents of all sizes, and has won world championships in seven different weight classes. On Saturday, he’ll get a chance to fight at this heaviest weight class, which normally extends to 154 pounds.
“From the time this fight was made it was always the bigger, stronger guy against the speedier guy,” commented Top Rank promoter, Bob Arum. “It’s also a fighter who uses one hand with the power right hand, Margarito, against a fighter with two hands, Pacquiao, whose left and right are the same.”
The fight has brought thousands of Boxing fans all the way to Texas. The fight, which was earlier written off in the Boxing world as a compromise for Pacquiao, picked up momentum in the final weeks.
