ARLINGTON, Texas — When southpaw Filipino super star, Manny Pacquiao, discovered earlier this week that the sick and hospitalized mother of a reporter, Rodney Hunt, was being cared for by nurses from his native Philippines, the WBO welterweight (147 pounds) wanted to do something to help Hunt.
So through a video delivered by Elie Seckhbach of FanHouse, the seven-division champion thanked the nursing staff for watching over Hunt’s mother, and then, delivered a further message to them in their native language.
The news had been broken to Hunt as he and Pacquiao (51-3-2, 38 knockouts) were riding on the fighter’s private airplane from Los Angeles to Dallas, Tex., where Pacquiao will fight on Saturday against ex-titlist, Antonio Margarito (38-6, 37 KOs) for the WBC’s junior middleweight (154 pounds) title at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium.
