Pacquiao Vs Margarito Countdown Begins: Anticipation Rising. The excitement in the world of Boxing is now growing by the day as the most anticipated fight of the year, Manny Pacquiao Vs. Antonio Margarito remains a few days away.
Manny Pacquiao remains undefeated since March, 2005. Come Saturday and he’ll attempt to win his 13th straight victory and the 9th knockout of his run. He has been reportedly eating to keep his weight intact. “It’s (moving up in weight) difficult because I’m used to training and losing weight. When you train, you automatically lose weight. But I’ve to eat around 7,000 calories a day to keep the weight on. I’ve to get up in the night and eat eggs just to keep the weight on,” Paquiao said, speaking of his training for the match.
The fight scheduled to be held in the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas; was written off by Boxing fans as a compromise due to the negative publicity around Margarito’s one-year ban imposed in 2009. The state of California denied Margarito a Boxing License following the hand-wrapping controversy in his fight against Shane Mosley. However, after a year, the state of Texas decided to allow him to fight.
Commenting on the duel, Pacquiao said, “I think he (Margarito) knew what he was doing but I think he has been punished enough. I cannot say for sure what he did or didn’t know, but I’m a fighter, I just fight.”
Even after the enough negative publicity around the event, thousands of Boxing fans from all over have flocked in the state of Texas to witness the event. Based on recent media events, the number of attendees will be a record-breaking figure of over 51,000; which will put the match attendance somewhere around the fourth position in attendance.
Margarito’s media function was attended by fans in thousands of numbers, flocking to show their support to the Mexican fighter. The huge turnout came as a surprise to Camp Margarito too, albeit a very motivational one.
The match will take place on the 13th of November.
