HOLLYWOOD ? For a change, Mommy Dionisia will be at ringside on fight night.
The popular mother of the reigning pound-for-pound champion said Sunday (Los Angeles time) that she has finally decided to watch Manny Pacquiao?s coming fight live, in the flesh.
The fight takes place Nov. 13 at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Mommy Dionisia, now a big celebrity back home, has been to all of Pacquiao?s big fights in the United States, but each time she has opted to stay in the hotel during the fight.
?Ayoko na maiwan sa hotel. Manonood na ako doon (I don?t want to stay behind. I will watch there,? said Mommy Dionisia, a very religious woman.
During the previous fights, she would often watch the fight on TV, clutching her rosary, sometimes on her knees as Pacquiao trades heavy blows with his opponents.
She said it will only be the second time she?d watch Pacquiao fight from ringside.
And if memory serves her well, the only time she saw a Pacquiao fight live was way, way back.
?Matagal na ?yun. First round knockout,? said Mommy Dionisia inside a Ross outlet, as she tried to get the best deals from the retail store.
A check at www.boxrec.com showed only six first-round knockouts scored by Pacquiao in his career, and it sounded impossible for Mommy Dionisia to recall the fight she was referring to.
A few fights ago, Mommy Dionisia had begged her son to quit boxing because in her own belief there?s nothing else to prove for his 31-year-old son.
But she has relented, and has allowed Pacquiao to go on.
She said she?s not worried about this fight against Antonio Margarito.
?Okay lang. Basta okay siya, okay ako (It?s okay. If he?s okay, I?m okay),? said Mommy Dionisia, who wore her Rolex watch, with chaperones, shopping at Ross.
