Moments ago at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, WBO featherweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez and Rafael Marquez both came in at 125 pounds in advance of their clash tomorrow night. Lopez is making the second defense of his belt and if successful he could be in line for a mouthwatering clash with WBA kingpin Yuriorkis Gamboa in either the spring or summer of 2011.
In selecting Marquez he picked a man who is no soft touch, a two division champion who has endeared himself to the boxing public because of his thrilling style in the ring and penchant for the kill. However, Marquez is 35 years old and it remains to be seen how he will fair at 126 pounds, a few key reasons as to why Lopez is a 4-1 betting favorite.
Regardless of what happens there should be fireworks tomorrow night.
