You can always tell when it?s fight week in Las Vegas simply by taking a walk around the strip or inside the venue playing host to the scheduled event. This weekend?s Showtime doubleheader has two meaningful matchups as WBA featherweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez defends his belt against former champion Rafael Marquez while Glen Johnson faces off with Allan Green in a Stage Three Super Six clash. This weekend?s card takes place from the MGM Grand and the participants have been seen around the casino and city making their rounds.
Lopez is looked at the star of the show because of his undefeated record, technical skills, explosive nature and his connection to boxing rich island of Puerto Rico. Lopez was greeted earlier today by two of the country?s most beloved figures in former champions Felix ?Tito? Trinidad and Wilfredo Gomez. If successful against Marquez, which is no easy task, Lopez looks to be in line for a huge clash with WBA champion Yuriorkis Gamboa early next year and that fight could catapult him closer to superstar status.
