IS Bob Arum treating Manny Pacquiao right?
I pose that question because Arum seems to forget Pacquiao is also a lawmaker. This early, Arum has said Pacquiao will fight again in May 2011.
And Pacquiao has yet to face Antonio Margarito on Nov. 14 (RP Time).
Does that not make Arum a bit off tangent?
OK, we know Arum is Pacquiao?s promoter. He tells Pacquiao when to fight and when not to fight.
In fact, surprise,surprise, but pundits insist Arum played a key role in torpedoing the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight.
They say Arum hates Mayweather so much he?ll do anything to ensure that that Dream Date won?t happen.
If confronted, Arum will deny that, of course.
I still believe boxing is sports? red-light district, as Jimmy Cannon said.
So, if Arum wills it, it will happen.
He has willed the Pacquiao-Margarito bout to happen so that Texas bowed and gave Margarito the license to fight again.
Didn?t Nevada , California and New York do the opposite–refuse to give Margarito back his right to fight after having been found guilty of wrapping illegal substance around his fists in a fight against Shane Mosley in 2009?
If Arum says so, even a tricycle driver from Lopue, Agdaw or Lagaw can fight Pacquiao at the Kodak Theater in L.A. on Christmas Eve.
So, c?mon, fellers, open your eyes.
Isn?t Arum trying to pull our legs?again?
He knows Pacquiao is both a boxer and a congressman.
I know Arum doesn?t believe in the chicken-or-the-egg thing.
As in, which comes first, the chicken or the egg?
Is Pacquiao the boxer coming in first over the Pacquiao the congressman thing?
Hey, let?s make this clear: Pacquiao maybe the world?s only seven-time boxing champion right now in seven different divisions, but isn?t he also a congressman representing the lone district of Sarangani Province in Mindanao?
And, as such, he has another job that is as equally daunting and demanding as his being a world boxing champ.
Every Pacquiao fight spells money.
But, alas, to Arum, Pacquiao packs nothing while doing his thing in Congress.
No honey, no money.
No fight, no money.
