Andre Berto has called out Manny Pacquiao before stating “he has never had to deal with my speed and power combined”. The people he has faced had either or, but not both. Many boxing fans would rather see that fight than the Pacquiao vs Margarito which is just an overpriced sparring match. Besides Floyd “Money” Mayweather, who else really deserves a shot against the “Pacman” Manny Pacquiao?
When Manny successfully wins a title at 154lbs, we has stated that he wants to come back down to 147lbs where he feels more comfortable. Waiting at 147lbs will be Andre Berto. Besides Mayweather, Berto is the only other champion at 147lbs that is undefeated. Why does it seem like this fight has been avoided? We’ve heard Berto call out Pacquiao but we have not heard Arum, Roach or Pacquiao call him out. Was it because they wanted to hurry up and win a title at 154lbs or was it something else?
Berto sports a record of 26-0 with 20 of those by Knockout. Berto has speed and he has power. As a matter of fact, we don’t know why Floyd hasn’t tried to fight him. I mean he is undefeated and he has the WBC Belt. His last 7 opponents had a combined record of 203 Wins with only 19 losses. Pretty impressive, and it let’s me know he has been in with some experienced fighters. Can somebody tell me why Berto has not received his shot against fighters like Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather. You can’t tell us that he doesn’t deserve it. He’s the champion, not the opponent.
For now we will have to wait to see the outcome of Pacquiao vs Margarito and Berto vs Hernandez which both of those fights are in November. Freddy Hernandez is not a push over, he is sporting a 29-1 with 20 knockouts himself. Once again, if we cannot get the Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight, give us the next best thing, Berto vs Pacquiao. We have Speed vs Speed and Power vs Power. The older and more experienced Pacquiao vs the younger champion with all heart and a undefeated record and belt on the line. As in the famous words of Mills Lane, “Let’s get it On”.
