Despite the recent news of the death of Stathi Katsidis, the older brother of WBO Interim lightweight champion Michael Katsidis, the younger Katsidis has announced he will continue in his preparation for his November 27, 2010 bout with Juan Manuel Marquez.
Marquez, the WBA/WBO lightweight champion (51-5-1, 37 KO), and Katsidis (27-2, 22 KO) will headline an HBO triple-header that will also feature WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto defending his title against Freddy Hernandez. The opening bout of the night will feature former jr. featherweight titlist Celestino Caballero moving up to jr. lightweight to face Jason Litzau.
The feature bout of the night was, and still is expected to be explosive. The pressure fighting, all action style of Katsidis going at the sharp-shooting counter-punching specialist, Juan Manuel Marquez is sure to give the fans what they want.
However, the fight was expected to be called off in the wake of the tragic news of Michael Katsidis? brother?s death. Katsidis, however, surprised the media today, saying he would continue training from his camp in Thailand, and will fight on November 27.
