A few weeks ago Los Angeles-based Golden Boy Promotion’s head man Oscar De La Hoya openly stated his desire to control the boxing market much like UFC and Dana White control mixed martial-arts.
Now via De La Hoya and White’s Twitter accounts, it has been revealed that the pair will meet in the next two week’s to discuss the sport of boxing.
De La Hoya wrote on his Twitter tonight, “let’s talk I have some great ideas as I’m sure you do as well,” in response to White’s message of, “Everyone knows I am a boxing fan and will be watching. Good to see you on twitter! Welcome.”
Imagine being a fly on the wall when the head of one of boxing’s biggest promotional firms breaks bread with UFC’s master. It will be interesting to see what comes from there meeting and if White can assist De La Hoya with brining boxing back to its former glory and popularity.
