MANILA, Philippines – Seven-division world champion Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao should give Mexican Antonio Margarito a “satisfactory” fight if he wants one with Floyd Mayweather Jr, a boxing analyst said.
Michael Marley, boxing analyst for examiner.com, wrote that Pacquiao’s performance in his Nov. 13 bout against Margarito will likely determine if a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight will finally push through.
“Come to think of it, Pacman looking ‘satisfactory’ might lure Mayweather into a fight next May,” Marley said.
Marley added that if Pacquiao looks “sensational” in his next fight, he might completely drive Mayweather off the radar.
“Being ‘sensational’ might be the final straw in driving reluctant Mayweather deeper into his bunker,” he said.
Early this year, the anticipated fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather was called off after the latter’s camp challenged the People’s Champ to undergo random drug tests.
The American five-division world champion was also caught on video bashing Pacquiao.
“Just win, Manny, just win. Then you can save the ‘sensational’ for Floyd,” Marley said.
