Let’s set the stage, Sergio Martinez 45-2-2, (24) faces Manny Pacquiao 51-3-2, (38) for the summer of 2011. Fight fans would pay top dollar to see these battle it out in Dallas. Why Dallas you might ask? It would be one of the only places that could hold that many people in one place to see this mega event that would make everyone forget about Floyd Mayweather Jr.
One thing we are counting on. Sergio beats Paul Williams and Manny beats Antonio Margarito. We might as well face the facts that Manny and Floyd will never meet, so the next best thing we have that could give Manny all that he could handle would be Sergio Martinez. Both men are southpaw which we believe would make it very difficult for Manny to face. Sergio not only can take a punch but he give one too. His awkward style would make Manny cautious to come inside to fight him.
We know for a fact that Sergio Martinez would face anybody. He will fight at 154lbs up to 160lbs. Let’s not forget he beat Kelly Pavlik at 160lbs and Kelly has power in his punch. Manny Pacqiao’s punches would not even faze him. They will be fast, but they will not slow him down or hurt him. Lou DiBella would be happy to setup a fight like this at 154lbs. The thing is, would Manny? Let alone Top Rank Bob Arum and Coach Freddie Roach. They will want to defend the title at 154lbs right? Who else do they have at that weight? Just in case Paul Williams wins the rematch, there is no way Freddie and Bob would
