Tungod, Inabanga, Bohol? No disrespect to the great Sugar Shane Mosley and his countless fans, but you read it right? Margarito?s knockout loss to Mosley was a fluke. Not that Mosley couldn?t beat a guy like Margarito because he most assuredly can. What I am talking about here is the manner at which it was executed. Sure I can really be wrong, but before you jump into hasty conclusions, I suggest that you hear first what I have to say? or more appropriately, read first what I have to write.
Mental focus and emotional stability are two very important facets of competition ? any form or type of competition, that is. A distracted fighter can?t execute a fight plan into perfection. Embarrassment leads to distress? distress, as a consequence, leads one to lose focus.. loss of focus is tantamount to loss of desire? and loss of desire often results to an enevitable defeat! These were exactly what happened to Antonio ?Loaded Hands? Margarito when he fought Mosley. It also didn?t help the Tijuana Tornado?s cause that he was fighting a grizzled veteran who was wise enough to keep the pressure coming, not letting up, and taking advantage of his opponent?s presumed anxiety. Margarito was beleaguered? essentially a lost soul. He was probably half the man he used to be as he stepped into that squared circle or even less. Taking into consideration that his old self would still have not been enough to beat a guy of Mosley?s caliber, how much less of a chance would he have had with only a fraction of himself to boot?
