FILIPINO boxing hero Manny Pacquiao has finally made public what he says is the terrible punishment that awaits his Mexican nemesis Erik Morales on Jan. 22, when they cross paths once again at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The fast and furious lefty from Gen. Santos City yesterday allowed reporters to see how he trains at the Wild Card Gym of Freddie Roach in Los Angeles.
Pacquiao did what was described in the boxing website 15rounds.com as an electrifying 70-minute media workout that had fellow fighters and media watching in awe.
“He didn’t see the best of me last time, but rest assured he’ll see the best of me this time,” the website quoted Pacman as telling sportswriters.
“I don’t know how I’m going to beat him, but I will win.”
While working out, the tune of Pacquiao’s latest project “Para Sa Yo ang Labang Ito [This Bout is for You]” blared in the background.
Trainer Roach revealed that he wants Pacquiao to be not so “left-hand happy,” a tactical pitfall that also marked the Filipino’s first fight with Morales.
“We’ve got a lot of different weapons he is prepared to use,” Roach told 15rounds.com.
Asked about his prediction, Roach said, “I wouldn’t be surprised if Manny knocked him out. I’m not predicting it, but I wouldn’t be surprised.”
“I want Manny to do a better job staying off the ropes,” Roach added. “It’s something we’ve been working on. You will see a much better fight this time around.”
Observers who in the past were dazzled by Pacquiao’s hand speed and power were given another treat this time, one prepared only for Morales: a highly-improved footwork aimed at confusing the Mexican star.
